Rally the Valley is a community-wide fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2015 to support patients at the Calaway • Young Cancer Center at Valley View Hospital. There are multiple ways in which to Rally. You may choose a 25-mile bike ride, a 4-mile walk, or a 1.5-mile family walk - Peyton's Parade. Or you might just want to join us for the lunch and party at Sayre Park. However you choose to Rally, know that you are helping patients journey through their treatment and into survivorship. |

Q: What is Peyton's Parade?
A: This is a 1.5-mile walk honoring Glenwood Springs Middle School student, Peyton Armstrong. In 2010, 10-year-old Peyton was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and received treatment. In 2011, Peyton and his family celebrated his one-year anniversary with Peyton's Magic Potion Parade to raise money for patient services at the Calaway Young Cancer Center. Now in remission, we invite participants to celebrate in 2015 with Peyton, his family and friends. Child strollers and wagons allowed. Costumes encouraged!
Q: Will the streets/trail be closed during the event?
A: We will have a police escort on Hyland Drive, Blake Ave and 23rd St at the start of the event. All other streets will be open. At all times, participants must be aware, exercise caution at intersections and when crossing roadways and stay to the right side of the road and trail. Volunteers will be stationed at main intersections to assist crossing. The Rio Grande Trail will be open to public use.

A: Activities will include live music, speakers, informational booths, a variety of games, rides and activities for children. Please remember no pets, no glass, no smoking allowed in Sayre Park.
Q: Is Rally the Valley a GREEN event?
A: YES! Valley View's volunteers from The Green Team diverted 1,200 pounds of garbage from the landfill during Rally the Valley
To minimize waste at Rally the Valley, the Green Team partnered with Waste Management to sort trash and divert as much waste as possible from the landfill. Waste Management provided “sorting stations” labeled: compostable, recycling, trash, along with compostable garbage bags. Ten individuals (Green Team members, employees and a few additional recruits) volunteered to oversee trash disposal at “sorting stations” throughout Sayre Park for the duration of Rally the Valley.
