Hello! My name is Joe Wainwright and wanted to give you all a little information about me and why I have decided to raise money for the frontline nurses battling COVID-19 at Valley View Hospital by setting the record for the longest continuous swim at the Glenwood Hot Springs. I originally am from Pinehurst, North Carolina (yes yes, I do play and love golf) and have grown up playing sports. It wasn’t until a severe car accident landed me in the ER that I said goodbye to “side to side” sports due to a hip and pelvis fracture. This sparked my interest in long distance endurance events. I have completed numerous ironman events, biked across the country (Maine to CA), and was even the 28th person to swim 21.25 miles across Lake Tahoe. Since moving to Glenwood Springs last August, I have been thinking of a long distance event that could help benefit the community. My wife and I love going to the Glenwood Hot Springs and I recently had the motivation to set the longest continuous swim record. My mom is a nurse and I wanted to put this event towards a good cause and help raise some money for some of the hardest working health care workers throughout the pandemic. Help raise funds to support nurses at Valley View!
Funds raised will support Valley View’s Nurse Residency Program, to help transition registered nurses (RNs) into new practice that meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence. Valley View is the first accredited American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) RN residency program in Colorado. Nurses in accredited transition programs promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills and professional behaviors necessary to deliver safe, high-quality care.
